Cheap sewing table, anyone? We don’t all have generous budgets, but we all need—or want– to sew, and it’s no fun using a sewing machine on the floor. So we start looking for something budget friendly. No, not that beautiful SewingRite Honeyoak Cabinet, priced at over a quarter of a thousand dollars; lovely as it is, it has the potential to gobble up a whole lot of grocery money. Instead, we want something that does what it should do (provide a sturdy sewing surface); is affordable, and at the same time won’t break or fall apart before its time. A flimsy sewing table is worse than no sewing table at all, and if your table breaks in a few weeks, you’ll just have to buy another—not the nicest thing for your bankbook, either.
You won’t be able to get anything with an electric lift, and you won’t find much in beautiful hardwoods, but there are very decent sewing cabinets available for just a little more than a hundred dollars. You’ll want one that’s highly rated by other buyers, one that isn’t an eyesore, and that gives you the best bang for your buck.
Here’s what we’re looking for in a cheap sewing table:
- Budget-friendly
- Sturdy and Durable
- Aesthetically Pleasing
- Practically Designed
A Cheap Sewing Table You Can Count On
Perhaps the best cheap sewing table available is Sauder’s Sewing Craft Cart. This versatile craft table comes in a number of different finishes; our favorite is Cinnamon Cherry. The simple style of this table means it can fit in almost anyway, and it really doesn’t look cheap. It’s made of formica-style laminated particleboard, but the finish is thick and glossy, and the melamine top is scratch and heat resistant. One nice feature of this sewing table is the storage it provides: adjustable shelving on one side and two storage bins as well.
This sewing cart measures 19.5 by 38.5 inches wide, and is 28 ¾ inch high. When you put up the extension, you get an extra 23 ½ inches in width, so plenty of room to spread out your sewing alongside the machine.

Sewers love this table because it is versatile, compact, and sturdy, and it provides plenty of workspace when it’s open. It’s also easy to assemble and the best priced table on the market.
If Simplicity is the Tone of Your Décor…
If storage doesn’t matter to you and you want a table that looks more like a table and less like a cabinet, another very budget friendly option is the Arrow Gidget Adjustable Sewing Machine Craft Project Table. This is a simple table with no storage, but a nice flatbed platform for a sewing machine—it should fit any machine no wider than 17.12 inches wide and 7.38 inches deep.
The table itself is 40 inches wide and 19 ¾ inches deep; a tad larger than the Sauder Sewing Cart, but not nearly as large as that sewing cart becomes with the extension arm up.

You don’t have to spend a fortune to get a nice sewing table; so long as bells and whistles aren’t important to you, either of these cheap sewing tables could make a wonderful addition to your sewing corner.
