And, it features many basic sewing supplies that are useful for when you are starting out with a new sewing machine, including: a range of colorful thread, metal bobbins, a seam ripper, a measuring tape, needles, a needle threader, and a plastic thimble. It should be noted that all items are fairly small, making it ideal for young crafters. There’s also a plastic tray in the basket, along with a built in pincushion.

You’ll notice there are a few essentials missing from this list. So, it would be a smart move to add (at the very least) a pair of sturdy scissors and a pack of straight pins to the mix. These extras should fit easily into the locking case, leaving a little more room for bigger spools of thread or other project materials, as needed.

Of all of this basket’s features, I will say that the removable tray is not the best quality. It’s a bit flimsy and takes away from the attractive aesthetic of the basket. It is probably worth keeping around, since it can hold a fair amount of small, lightweight objects. But, if you find that you really dislike how the tray looks, you could always remove it and use small tins or jars to organize materials within the container.

This baskets fits easily on most shelves and comes fully assembled. Not only can it hold your loose buttons, it is cute as one, too. This is a great kit for a beginner or casual seamstress on a budget.
